March Coed Hiking Social- San Elijo Lagoon + Annie’s Canyon
Join me on my go-to local hiking trail in San Diego! We’ll be doing a three (ish) mile loop around the entire lagoon plus an optional stop into the infamous Annie’s Canyon- a unique slot canyon by the beach!
A slot canyon is a narrow passage with steep walls made out of sandstone (not for the claustrophobic). Years ago, Annie’s Canyon was entirely covered in water. Over time the rock eroded and eventually turned into the canyons we see today. It’s one of San Diego’s most unique hikes and worth checking out at least once!
Because this hike is easily accessible and family friendly, expect to be sharing the trail with other hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early to find parking and walk to the trailhead.

Trail snacks/ beverages are highly encouraged! The map below is simply a pin to the park, not the trailhead. If you’d like to bring your dog, you will not be able to add on Annie’s Canyon. Dogs are not allowed in the slot canyon. Everything but the slot canyon is dog friendly.
